Over last eleven decades Ramakrishna Mission has been trying to translate Swami Vivekananda's concept of "man-making and character-building education" into reality through a number of educational institutions run by its branch centers mostly in India and a few abroad.
"We want that education by which character is formed, strength of mind is increased, the intellect is expanded, and by which one can stand on one's own feet" said Swami Vivekananda.
After running a Vocational Training Center for about 22 years alongside its Higher Secondary School (CBSE, English Medium) through its Viveknagar Branch in West Tripura District, it decides to upgrade the VTC to an Industrial Training Institute, with the active cooperation and financial assistance of the Government of Tripura through its Departments of School Education and Industry & Commerce.
Whereas the H.S. School concentrated its efforts for imparting quality general education, the ITI will endeavor to enable students outside the pale of Higher Education "stand on their own feet" by acquiring job skills needed for industrial workforce. Since Ramakrishna Mission is always quality conscious, we begin the ITI with minimum number of three Technical Trades. Once we are in a stable position with these we shall include more trades to it in course of time.
By the grace of Sri Ramakrishna, Ma Sarada Devi and Swami Vivekananda whom we believe as human manifestations of God, we hope to serve the students of Tripura through this Industrial Training Institute to grow up not only as self-reliant adults but as responsible human beings with Indian traditional values of renunciation and service as the guiding motto of their lives.
